Week 30 - Mar 24 - PTA Newsletter
Dear Sulphur Springs Parents and Guardians,
Later this Spring, we will present our Founder’s Day awards to volunteers from our school and our community who have gone above and beyond for the students on our campus. If you know of a volunteer who deserves extra recognition, please reach out to our PTA Historian (and Volunteer Appreciation Expert) Yuka Kawasaki at Yuka0924@hotmail.com. She will work with you to ensure that each person truly knows how much they are appreciated. Nominations are due Friday, April 12.
Also, Talent Show rehearsals start right after Spring Break. Please look for the flyer, and email your music or video to GaryLaramore@gmail.com as soon as possible! We would like to receive this information before our “auditions” on Tuesday, April 9. If your student would like to participate but cannot attend the Audition, please text Rose Carradine McGee at 661-644-7779 no later than April 8.

- Backstage Supervisors
- Stage Crew (creating and/or moving props and set pieces)
- Audience Managers and Concessions Salespersons
- Sound Board Operator
- Videographer and/or Video Editor
- Hair and Make-up Artists, Costume Stylists
If you are interested in helping out with any of these positions, no matter your limited availability, please contact Rose Carradine McGee (661-644-7779).
The Talent Show Committee is also looking for the following donations:
- Banner – a themed Sulphur Springs’ Got Talent banner to be reused each year
- Materials for props – plywood, 2x4s, red paint, paint rollers, glow tape
- 3-4 headset or lavaliere microphones – to borrow is fine!

- Volunteer Appreciation – Founders’ Day Awards Information
Do you know a PTA or school volunteer who is deserving of extra special recognition?
Each year, our PTA recognizes a small number of people for their outstanding dedication to the children at our school and in our larger community. Please take a few minutes and tell us who you think should receive these awards:
- HONORARY SERVICE AWARD: To recognize an individual’s (or organization’s) outstanding service to children and youth, in our school and/or in our larger community, regularly going above and beyond what is asked of them.
- CONTINUING SERVICE AWARD: To recognize ongoing and continued service to children and youth over a number of years; this individual may or may not have received a previous California State PTA Honorary Service Award.
- GOLDEN OAK SERVICE AWARD: This is the most prestigious PTA award in California. This award may be given to an individual who has made significant long-term contributions to the welfare of children and youth in the school and/or their community.
Please email your suggestions for a deserving individual (or for an organization/company) and state a brief reason why you think they should be honored. Their contributions may include volunteer service to children or youth in PTA, school, scouts, sports, charitable foundations, or religious organizations. This information can be emailed to Yuka Kawasaki (Yuka0924@hotmail.com) or completed on the flyer going home this week. Please be sure to share your most valued volunteers with us no later than Friday, April 12.
Honorees will be recognized at our May 14 SSPTA Association Meeting.
In addition to the California State PTA Awards listed above, we will also recognize a number of Sulphur Springs PTA volunteers with our very own SSPTA awards. Please email Yuka (Yuka0924@hotmail.com) with the names of any individuals that you want to be sure are recognized for their efforts during this past school year. Also due Friday, April 12.
Please plan to join us at our May SSPTA Meeting to celebrate all the volunteers who give so much of their time and energy to our students and to our school community.
