Week 36 - May 12 - PTA Newsletter

Dear Sulphur Springs Parents and Guardians,

It was wonderful to see so many of you on Friday night at our Boots and Beauties Dance.  There were a lot of special memories made, and we thank all our attendees for making it such a fantastic time.  This year’s event was co-chaired by two of our very own teachers, and they are hoping to hand off what they have learned to another parent who might want to take the lead.  If you are interested, please let Kim Sperling, Chrystal Ramos, or Jessica Coleman know.  (Email President@sspta.org or text Chrystal at 512-800-3672.)

THIS TUESDAY, we have our SSPTA Volunteer Recognition Luncheon as well as our last PTA Meeting of the year.  We hope you will join us on Tuesday, May 14, at Toppers on Soledad Canyon Rd.  We will be having lunch at 11:15am, presenting awards to our amazing volunteers, and conducting our last PTA association meeting of the year.  

  • Come meet next year’s PTA leaders and hear their plans for major events.  

  • Congratulate our Founders’ Day Award recipients.  Teachers who have received Founder’s Day Awards (or SSPTA Volunteer Awards) will be honored on May 24 at the morning AR Assembly.

  • And get your name on the list to help with activities and planning in the Fall. 

We look forward to seeing all of you there!

  • 5/14, 11:15am – Last PTA Meeting of the Year at Topper’s Pizza – join us!

    • Celebrate this year’s amazing volunteers!

    • Meet your new Board members/officers for next year!

    • Preview the calendar for 2024-2025.  Share your thoughts/ideas!

  • 5/15, 4-7pm – SSPTA Restaurant Night at McDonald’s on Soledad Canyon

    • McTeacher Night, starring your very own teachers and Principal Palacios!

    • Come hang out in the PlayPlace, order a tasty treat, or just chill with friends.

  • 5/16 – Minimum Day, students will be dismissed at 12:45pm.

    • We are in need of a pop-up tent for shade, if you have one we can borrow.

  • 5/29 – SSPTA Mustang Store, 12:30-2:00pm

  • 5/30, 7:30am – School Site Council meeting on Zoom

    • The link will be available in that week’s Mustang Message (on Monday).

  • 5/30 – SSPTA Mustang Store, 12:30-3:00pm

  • 5/31 – SSPTA Recycling Drop-Off at all 3 valets (morning only)

    • New volunteers are always welcome!  8:10am-8:50am

  • 5/31, 9am – Spirit Assembly with 6th Grade Awards

    • PTA Founder’s Day Awards for Teachers

  • 5/31 – SSPTA Mustang Store, 10:30am-3:00pm

 

Week 4

  • 6/3 – SSPTA Mustang Store, 9:00am-1:00pm; then clean-up (for the year!)

  • 6/6 – Last day of school; MINIMUM DAY, students are dismissed at 12:45pm

1. Weekly Volunteer Recognition

Thank you to all our PTA volunteers for your work this past school week on:  the Boots and Beauties Dance (especially our teachers Jada Dunn and Sophia Leao who co-chaired this special event), Game Room (and Art Room!), the Great Artist Program, and preparing for next week’s Annual PTA Meeting and our Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon!  

Thank you to the school for honoring so many of our volunteers as well as other volunteers who help out around school on a regular basis at Thursday’s School Volunteer Breakfast.  The food was delicious, and the companionship was top-notch.

2. List of Urgent Volunteer Needs

We have an immediate need for volunteers in the following areas.  If you would like to donate any amount of your time, please reach out to the contact listed:

  • Mustang Day of Fun (5/28), hosted by the PTA

    • If you are interested in getting involved, please email President@sspta.org.

    • We are looking into having a DJ, playing some games, possibly doing some water-based activities, maybe providing a sweet treat, etc.

    • We need at least two pop-up tents to borrow.

  • Mustang Store (May 29, 30, 31) – Yuka Kawasaki, Chairperson (818-749-2203)

    • 5/24 Set-Up – Text Yuka to coordinate the best time.

    • Wednesday, 5/29, 12:30-2:00pm
